week 9 already?

i have been leaving my house before sunrise,
and only return home when sun is setting or already down..
i spend most of my time awake in university!
home is now like a hotel to me.. just to eat and sleep!
i really miss spending time at home!!

classes have generally been enjoyable..
breaks are some time not-so-fun..
i spend most of my break time in the library.. oh no!!!
i am learning to be a nerd.. some-what a sampat one..
my stress level is rising slowly but steadily..
as i see people around me studying like there's no tomorrow..

all seniors always mention this to us:
"but you are just in Semester 1.. relax la!"
as i see my notes piling, my Marieb and Netter's crying for me..
my friends who seem to know most things needed to know..
my parents' happy faces when they tell people i am taking Dentistry..
and pain piercing through my heart each time i see money outflow..
pressure for me to succeed continues to build up.. aiks~

yes, i believe i can do it because i want to.. GO! GO! GO!

oh btw, Student Services did not approve Leo Club formation..
there were some issues regarding IMU's policy..
and also a lot of overlapping objectives with the present clubs..
i am some how feeling relieved with the end of this chapter..
no worries, i'll return your membership fees.. lol..
so i shall now just focus on my studies and Community Service Club!

-------------------------------End of Emo-ness-------------------------------

our very first Dental Clinic Session was pretty fun..
the IMU Dental Clinic was just open earlier this month i think..
we were the first to use it, even before our seniors!
cos it seemed that some equipments are yet to arrive..

anyway, this particular session was for face-painting..
to identify the nerves, arteries, veins and muscles of head and neck!
we were divided into 10 groups of 5 students..
armed with paint brushes, oil-based paint and books/notes..
we started our play and learn time.. lol..

some of my classmates doing their thing..

on-going group discussion..

painting on our relaxed model..

my group mates: Alex, Kai Shang, me, Joo Yong and Eu Gene..

Prof Toh, our dean and Prof Khoo, our coordinator were present..
seen here together with Rezzuan, Fatimah, Ezwana and Jim..

Zeng painting the Jerome's face, Li Qing is looking on..

because of this, stimulated patients from Medical programme

are allowed into the Dental Clinic next time solely for this purpose!

the end-product from my group..

models united! showing off their face-painting.. =)

after our class ended around 12.30pm..
we, DT1/09, all wearing lab coats and some painted faces..
walked in to the Auditorium very fashionably late..
to attend the Student Choice Awards 2009..
the so-called Oscars for IMU lecturers.. hehe..
although we came in from the back door, audience looked at us!

just a snapshot during the Student Choice Awards..
organized by SRC, voted by students from different programmes!

next week will be my 10th week as a student..
and then one week break! yessss~ i really need one! =D

Blind Leading the Blind Walk

we took part in a Leo/Lion Club activity..
even before the club is officially formed!
pending the approval from Student Representative Council (SRC)..

our very first activity is Blind Leading the Blind Walk..
blindfolded 3km walk organized by Lions of Petaling Jaya..
meeting point? PJ Civic Centre carpark..

a lot of us woke up very early for the event..
i personally left home earlier than my usual days..
it only took 20 minutes from my home till PJ New Town..
i love it when i can cruise along the road, bravo Sunday morning!
with no cars, no traffic jams and green lights all the way! =)

meet up with the rest of our members, 16 of us to be exact!
all arriving before 7.30am, but as the usual Malaysian timing..
the event started later at around 8am..
so we met up with some Lions and did some chit chat..

not just the Leo and Lion Clubs members, the public took part too!
there were blind people, young kids, old folks and familes..

freebies for everyone after the walk.. a lot of food!

very first picture of the committee members.. =)

Joo Yong and i before the walk..

off we go!

police blocking the road.. super cool.. hehe..

no cars.. only can see people walking!

Sharon has 2 people to care for: Damien and Anson..
while Olive is under Manlo's supervision..

see what Joo Yong has to say about her experience..
while walking blindfolded, with me by her side:

taking turns to be blindfolded and to lead..

participation from the public.. sporting-nya!

Joo Yong leading a "blind" me..

taking a break under the shade.. it was freaking hot and sunny!

take a look at what Michelle has to endure..
a Lion asked us to not talk and stay away from her..
she has to walk all alone, not knowing the direction!

us outside the "White House"..
cold and yummy mango juice and bottled water were served!

this is really blind leading the blind.. they held onto each other!

take a look a them in the next video..
funny people without us holding on to them.. lol..

great job Damien! he was blindfolded for most of the 3km walk.. =)

the last 4 to arrive.. plus me, the photographer..
L-R: Joe, Zi Qin, Tung Meng and Joo Yong..
and like seriously no one was behind us.. haha..

oh, and guess what? we won two prizes in the lucky draw!
dental students have much better luck than our medical friends..
our lucky number? 2161 and 2157 respectively..
what are you waiting for? go buy 4-ekor!

me with my car perfumes, super absorbant cloth and magnets..
much luckier Joo Yong with her DVD player.. *all smiles*

finally, a picture of us with Lion Christopher and Leo of Taylor's..

and wow, i finally sweat! haven't done so in ages.. haha..
simply an amazing experience.. *knocking the doors of SRC*

it's seriously freaky.. i saw a lot of blood throughout the week!
not just the Blood Donation Drive..
or pricking of fingers for our practical on blood..
but dead dogs and cats along the highway! EWWW~ so gross!

no, i am not exaggerating..
i think can see their intestines too!
thankfully i won't be dealing with all these stuff in the future..
dentists only focus on the head and neck region..
that's not likely to cause any death.. hehe..

we had our wet lab practicals today on blood..
we were to prick our fingers and test our blood type..
plus view pretty cells in our blood.. =)

my lab buddies.. (L-R) "Dr" Eu Gene doing the pricking,
Kai Shang looking shocked and "terrified" patient Joo Yong..

our blood types.. now i know how this works!

drying our blood smear with the hairdryer..

my blood taken from the microscope lenses..
so pretty hor? the eosinophil is visible! =)

last but not least, a sampat lala picture with my friends..
right before everyone dump me for home..
i had to stay back for another hour for my transport home!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5.. =D

and oh my god, you better believe this..
remember this guy from my post long time ago?
he'll be my leader for IMU Cup 2009! *hyper hyper*
i really got to join a sport for the tournament la..
then only can be friends with him! *whacked*

IMU Oral Health Awareness Week 2009

it was pretty interesting! such an eye opener..
i believe you know what i am referring to.. hehe..
if you don't, slap yourself then look at my blog post title.. =P

April is the Oral Health Month.. did you even know that?
i was totally clueless about it.. until NOW!
so just keep that in mind ok?

basically, this is a 2-day event organized by the dental students..
it was held on 8 & 9 April 2009, from 11.30am-2.30pm..
at Atrium, Ground Floor.. and our theme is JUST SMILE :)

the poster..

it took us like 2 weeks to prepare!
i don't want to talk about all the trouble i have been through..
let's just stay with the happier times ok? =)

check out our promotional videos:

from the bird's eyeview.. no la, it's taken from the 3rd floor..

i believe there was like 87 of us involved..
from the senior and junior batches: DT1/08 and DT1/09..
there were like 4 stations all together..
Nutrition, Oral Diseases, Oral Hygiene Instructions and Aesthetics..

after registration at the counter and visits to all 4 booths,
visitors are eligible for FREE gifts..
i think quite a good number of people turned up.. =)

all dental students bought a T-shirt for this event..
the front is kinda empty, except for a few lines of words:
"a SMILE is a curve that sets everything straight - Phyllis Diller"!

the back of the shirt looks like this.. nice?

i am going to focus more on my station in this post..
which is the Oral Hygiene Instructions..
the members: 11 juniors and only 1 senior, Yani..

we had this huge toothpaste as our station deco..

not forgetting the toothbrush as held by Li Qing.. =)

i did this entire board.. *claps claps*

another senior, who's name i can't recall.. sorry!
explaining to the visitors how to correctly brush their teeth..

just 1 question for all of you..
leave your answers on my chatbox or comments section ok?

Q: how do you rinse after brushing your teeth?
A) using a cup or mug
B) using your palm(s)
C) directly from the tap
D) spit then suck using a wet toothbrush
E) don't rinse at all

we have 2 games in our station:

the flossing game.. not that easy though!

participants are required to floss out the plague (red wax),
using a floss (wire) without injuring the gum (blue plasticine),
in 3 minutes per tooth! then they'll win prizes .. *yay*

the next game is very similar to the dart game: Attack The Caries!
you'll have to get rid all of the cute bacteria in 1 minute..
and stand a chance to win a soft toy worth rm39.90!

Eldwin, ME1/09 batch rep attempting to win the game..

prizes for consolation and participation of both the games
are bookmarks or toothpastes.. not bad right?

other stations had really cool games too..
like try to blow a bubble with chewing gum in 1 minute;
snake and ladder kind of game, where you need to answer questions;
and guessing the celebrity smile.. =)

pretty fun and challenging game at the Aesthetic station..

we even have a performance by Sam and Arsalan..

Sam was the host while Arsalan was the participant of:
Who Wants To Be An OHS (Oral Health Specialist)?
you win, you'll get money kind of game show.. hehe..

with some of the girls from my station:
(L-R): Ruby, Joo Yong, myself and Mae Yee..

Fahrenheit 1st Malaysian Concert.. =D

the long awaited post is finally here.. lol..
Fahrenheit Malaysia Concert, held at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil..
last Saturday night from around 8.30pm till 11.30pm.. =D

due to some last minute glitches..
i went with my cousin Shannon instead!
really cool birthday gift for her.. yay! *claps claps*

well, my initial plan was just to be there screaming
and enjoying the concert and have a good look at my Chun..
then the "make a sign for Wu Chun" plan popped up..
thanks to the extra cardboard supposedly for bookmarks!
and for this, i have to thank Zeng for his brainy idea..
and the rest of the group for the red cardboard.. hehe..

doing the finishing touches on the cardboard!

i spent like an entire 4 hours doing that sign..
drawing part was just 5 minutes..
cutting and pasting aluminum foil was so time-consuming!
my back was aching cos i was sitting on the floor for hours..
but the end results was just so lovely..
OMG!!!i was smiling ear to ear that day! haha..

cousin Shannon was really amused when she came..
on how sampat this cousin of hers became! haha..
this was really my very first time doing such a thing..
hopefully it'll be my last.. very tiring leh!

we gobbled down dinner at around 6.30pm..
then i was literally speeding all the way there..
we reached Bukit Jalil in like 35 minutes.. cool huh?
i agak-agak know where the stadium is located..
but i went like a few rounds to get to a parking spot..
thanks to my terrible sense of direction! aiks..

so, while we were walking from my car to the stadium..
both of us were chased by guys..
they were running really fast towards us and shouting..

here's the scenario, our conversation and actions included!
guys: leng lui! leng lui! you want to buy some lights?
shannon: don't look back ah, yean..
me: what? *continue babbling and not hearing them shout*
guys: *caught up with us* leng lui, want some lights?
very cheap.. rm9 only!
me: no, thank you.. *continue walking fast*
guys: *reads my sign out loud* Chun: My Prom Date..
shannon: *looking at me, smiling*
me: *OMG.. so embarrassing! he's reading my sign!*
guys: you want Wu Chun to see your sign, you need some lights!
me: it's ok.. i am totally ok with this..
guys: no, like really la.. it's only rm9 per stick.. buy la..
me: *turns back facing them* no la, i think if you guys give me
the lights for FREE, Wu Chun can see my sign much better!
*then i flashed my million dollar smile* haha..
guys: *speechless for a while* cannot give free la..
just get some from us ok?
me: haha.. still no thank you! *take extra big steps*

cousin Shannon was yet again amazed by my spontaneousness!
so was i.. i totally can't believe i said that to those guys..
must be Wu Chun that let my adrenaline run so high! *whacked*

anyway, most of my pictures are blurred..
cos we weren't suppose to use any flash while taking pictures..
i'll just post up the clearer ones ok?
but i did take quite a few videos.. =P
at certain point of times i was stopped by the security guards..
but who cares? i paid my money and i am hurting nobody!
and my camera died on me halfway through the concert..
apparently video takes up a lot battery..
so no videos of the 2nd half only pictures.. boo hoo..

enjoy the pictures and just a little warning about the videos..
they are not really clear cos i zoomed too far..
plus you might want to tone your volume down..
there are lots o screaming and sampat-ness involved..
the side of me, a lot of you have not seen before..
it's like watching badminton LIVE, except Chun is H.O.T.!!!

some people outside the entrance.. blurred!

met my cousin Lee, who got a free ticket from his friend..

he sat further than us, since he's not a big fan..
but if did have VIP tickets, a swap of places is a must.. lol..

before the start of the concert.. still can see the stage! =)

as you can see, the rm248 area we are at is pretty empty..
most of the fans bought the upper tier, ours was the lower one..

Karen Kong, a local singer.. was the opening artiste of the night..
she sang like 3 songs which i have never heard before..
catch a glimpse of her in the following video:

next video is like more than 15 minutes long..
it involves the 1 minute of darkness and the opening act!
Fahrenheit sang the songs 出神入化, 我有我的Young, 心里有数..
the first part of their song is drowned by fans' scream,
me included! haha.. like really crazy.. enjoy! XD

OMG!!! the next 2 video are like.. OMG!!! a must see!!!

four lucky Cinderellas were chosen through some competition..
and the Wu Chun held his fan's hand from the start till the end..
like from the moment they chose the partners,
till the end of the song 爱到.. she's like the luckiest of all.. *scream*
he's the only one who did that, plus he can remember her!
at the end, all 4 girls get to shake hands and hug them.. *LUCKY*

now you know why i like Wu Chun over the rest?
i should start writing letters to him too.. with my pictures in it! =P

cousin Shannon and i..

Calvin's solo performance: beatboxing..
he's officially my second favourite Fahrenheit member.. haha..
i don't care whether he looks like an alien or not..
he's tall, but i don't like his current hairstyle.. eww!

Wu Chun showed us his awesome skills with the drums..
this time round was with the Japanese Taiko Drums..
he practiced solely for this concert.. so sweet right?
i totally fell in love all over again.. lol

Fahrenheit foursome also presented their skills..
Wu Chun on drums, Calvin beatboxing, Jiro with his guitar,
and Aaron with the electric piano..
followed by the songs 超喜欢你 and 越来越爱!

during the encore, which was like an additional 30 minutes or so..
we missed the first few minutes of it..
thinking that the concert was over and done with..
no wonder nobody was moving except both dummy us!
thank god we were using the washroom then..
but i missed Wu Chun on his drum set.. boo hoo~

anyway, i wanted to post up more videos..
but it's really taking up a lot of my time..
so yeah.. let it just be ok? =)

and how i wish i can even experience this! envy her.. *screams*
